Welcome to my little corner of the internet
My name is Kim Vardal, and I am a self-taught artist and illustrator with a MA in Design from the Royal Danish Academy . My return to art began at a time when I needed to find myself again, after suddenly becoming unemployed while also having just become a mother.
What had once brought me so much joy in life, namely art, found its way back to me after a 6-year-long break.
I’m inspired by the overlooked details that we walk past every day. The little sticker stuck to an overfilled trash can, the graffiti on a manhole cover, and what we would usually consider “vandalism” turns into small pieces of undervalued art when viewed through a different lens. This, combined with my fascination with Zen garden principles, creates an interesting and sometimes conflicting balance between order and chaos. Calm and energy.
All of my art is created in the basement of a house from the 1940s, where one room has been dedicated to this visual journey and deep immersion.
Art has always been my steady companion through every stage of life, and now I am giving it the time and attention it needs to truly grow, as we find our way back to each other once again.
